Complex oxides replaced by rare earth ions, Eu(0.5)RE(0.5)Fe(0.5)Mn(0.
5)O(3) (RE = La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb) were prepared
by the solid state reaction method. Measurements by XRD and XPS were
carried out. The study of XPS indicates that the replacement by rare e
arth causes the decrease of the binding energy(B. E.) of rare earth io
ns, compared to their sequioxides. And in the replaced oxides, the bin
ding energy of Fe-2p3/2 and Mn-2p3/2 increases with the decrease of io
n radius of RE ion. The reasons for the changes of B. E. are discussed
.
