The most widely used personality inventory, the Minnesota Multiphasic
Personality Inventory (MMPI), has been revised and expanded to address
more contemporary problem areas. The MMPI-2 has a growing research ba
se for counseling settings. This article highlights the application of
the MMPI-2 in college counseling, couples counseling, medical problem
assessment, military applications, personnel screening programs, and
its use as a measure for psychopathology research with normal-range po
pulations, such as samples of older individuals.
