Adsorption of uranium on molecular sieve ((13)X-type) has been studied
as a function of shaking time, amount of adsorbent, pH, concentration
of adsorbate and temperature. Uranium adsorption obeys the Langmuir a
nd Dibinin-Rudushkevich isotherms equations. The values of Delta H deg
rees and Delta S degrees were calculated from the slopes and intercept
s of plots between 1n K-D versus 1/T. The results show endothermic hea
t of adsorption but negative free energy value indicating that the pro
cess of uranium adsorption on molecular sieve is favoured at high temp
erature. The influence of various cations and anions on uranium adsorp
tion were also studied.
