Abstract
A solid diglycidylether of bisphenol-S was prepared. The curing reacti ons of this resin were studied kinetically by differential scanning ca lorimetry (DSC) using 4,4'-diaminodiphenylmnethane (DDM), 4,4'-diamino diphenyl sulfone (DDS) or dicyanodiamide (DICY) as curing agents. The activation energies of the curing reactions range within 60.3-87.6 kJ mol(-1). The thermal stability of the cured products was studied by th ermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Using the above compounds, different g lass fibre-reinforced epoxy composites were fabricated. The composites have good thermal stability, good mechanical strength and electrical insulation properties and chemical resistance.
