Abstract
The problem of information about the state of a digital information tr ansmission channel in distributed control and computer networks is exa mined. A linguistic model of the communication channel and a methodolo gy for estimating the current state of the channel based on fuzzy set theory are proposed. Results of simulational modeling of the classical and the modified procedures for identifying the state of the digital channel, which show that the use of the introduced procedure for verif ying a fuzzy hypothesis reduces the average time for making a decision about the operability of the channel, are presented.
