The application of micellar electrokinetic chromatography to the analy
sis of complex mixtures of FITC and DTAF amino acid derivatives was st
udied. Resolution optimization was attempted for a mixture of 21 amino
acids. In the case of FITC, by increasing the analysis temperature to
35 degrees C, a total of 17 FITC amino acids could be separated. On t
he other hand, by using a combination of mixed micelles (SDS/Brij-35)
and the addition of organic modifiers, a total of 19 DTAF derivatized
amino acids could be separated.
