Abstract
In this paper, a comprehensive process model able to simulate the beha viour of a waste-water treatment plant based on Lemna gibba has been d eveloped. This model accounts for the main chemical and biochemical ph enomena involved in a natural waste-water treatment system. Several co mparisons with experimental data obtained both in mini-ponds and in re al-size plants have confirmed the reliability of the model predictions .
