T. Croci et al., PROMOTION BY SR-48692 OF GASTRIC-EMPTYING AND DEFECATION IN RATS SUGGESTING A ROLE OF ENDOGENOUS NEUROTENSIN, British Journal of Pharmacology, 115(3), 1995, pp. 383-384
We investigated the influence of the nonpeptide neurotensin receptor a
ntagonist, SR 48692, administered orally, on gastric emptying and on a
cute defaecation. SR 48692 dose-dependently (ED(50) similar to 0.7 mu
g kg(-1)) increased gastric emptying of a food suspension, but it had
no effect on that of a non-caloric meal. SR 48692 also dose-dependentl
y promoted defaecation and increased faecal water content. We suggest
that antagonism of endogenous neurotensin accounts for the gastric emp
tying and defaecation promoting action of SR 48692.
