The Pd(PPh(3))(4)-catalyzed cross coupling between 3 and terminal alky nes furnished enynyl aldehydes 4, which were converted to 6 by condens ation with 5. Sequential treatment of 6 with n-butyllithium, methanesu lfonyl chloride, and tetrabutylammonium fluoride (TBAE)afforded enyne[ 3]cumulenes 8.
