PRURITIC PAPULAR ERUPTION IN AN HIV-INFECTED IMMUNOCOMPETENT PATIENT

We report on an HIV-infected, immunocompetent male Caucasian patient w ith an unusual, mildly pruritic, flesh-colored or red to blue, pinhead -sized papular eruption clinically consistent with pruritic papular er uption of HIV-infection. In several biopsies, features suggestive of p ruritic papular eruption of HIV-infection and of lichen nitidus were f ound. We suggest that inflammatory dermatoses with clear diagnostic fe atures in otherwise healthy individuals may present as pruritic papula r eruption in HIV-infection.
