We present total intensity radio images of a collection of 48 radio ga
laxies and quasars, drawn from a combined sample of the 3CR catalogue
and the overlapping 6C and B2 catalogues. The 6C and B2 samples are se
lected at a flux density level at which the differential source counts
exceed by the greatest amount the counts predicted for a non-evolving
Friedmann cosmology. The new observations presented here complete a s
et of high-quality radio data for these samples: in conjunction with n
ew optical/infrared data they should provide new insight into the cosm
ological evolution of this source population. The sources were observe
d with the VLA, at one or more of the following frequencies: 1.4 GHz,
5 GHz, 8.4 GHz. Basic source parameters are derived from each image, I
mages of individual sources are briefly discussed. The sources are cla
ssified morphologically according to their degree of core dominance R.
The distributions of morphologies for 3CR and '6C/B2' sources are com
pared and discussed.
