The problem of skin depth and Fresnel reflectivity is addressed for de
nse strongly coupled plasmas (sep). Frequencies are considered which a
re less than or close to the electron plasma frequency both for classi
cal and degenerate sep. For classical sep the calculations go beyond t
he Born approximation for the dynamic collision frequency. The correla
tion effects are treated through the dynamic local field corrections,
whose role turns out to be essential at high values of plasma coupling
parameter. Preliminary data for degenerate dense plasmas are compared
with the results obtained for classical sep. The effect of a radiatio
n 'cut-off' near the plasma frequency turns out to be less pronounced
in classical sep due to the more collision-dominated nature of this pl
asma, in comparision with weakly non-ideal or strongly degenerate plas
mas. Available related experimental and molecular dynamics data are pr
esented and analysed for comparison with the developed theory.
