The isothermal crystallization kinetics of styrene/propylene block cop
olymer(iPS-b-iPP) has been investigated by DSC. The results indicated
that the kinetics of isothermal crystallization for all of samples was
fitted for the Avrami equation quite well within selected crystalliza
tion temperature (127-132 degrees C), and that the crystallization tem
perature, crystallization rate and crystal growing mechanism were affe
cted by the composition ratio of iPS-b-iPP. With the increase of the c
ontent of iPS block in iPS-b-iPP copolymers crystallization rate(G) an
d Avrami exponent(n) were significantly reduced, In addition, a discus
sion about the relationship between the growing mechanism of crystals
and the composition ratio of iPS-b-iPP was made based on the Avrami ex
ponents and TEM.
