Abstract
This paper describes the behavior of a new disintegrant agent Xanthan SM a modified USP Xanthan, Different concentrations (0.5 to 3%) of thi s new polymer were used to study the influence on tableting ability, d isintegration time and dissolution behavior of dicacium phosphate tabl ets with theophylline used as an active tracer. Compared to carboxymet hyl starch Primogel (R) in the same conditions, Xanthan SM reveals its elf to be an excellent tablet disintegrating agent.
