Abstract
Reaction of 9-nitrosotriptycene with phenyllithium gave N-9-triptycyl- O-phenylhydroxylamine (TpNHOPh). The free energy barrier to rotation a bout the Tp-N bond is 10.9 kcal mol(-1) and that to the N-O topomeriza tion is higher than this.
