Aa. Ejaz et al., METASTATIC SOFT-TISSUE CALCIFICATION IN CHRONIC-RENAL-FAILURE DETECTED BY RADIONUCLIDE IMAGING, Clinical nuclear medicine, 20(6), 1995, pp. 505-507
Metastatic calcification has been reported in several disease entities
, including chronic renal failure. Various imaging modalities have bee
n shown to be useful in the detection of metastatic soft tissue calcif
ication. Radionuclide imaging may detect metastatic soft tissue calcif
ication more readily than routine diagnostic modalities and be a valua
ble noninvasive method to establish an early diagnosis in high-risk pa
tients. The authors report a patient with extensive soft tissue metast
atic calcification who had a myriad of clinical symptoms. The extensiv
e calcification was detected with a radionuclide imaging.
