The room temperature compression textures of Ti-46Al-2V alloy were det
ermined by a modified maximum entropy method, in which two texture com
ponents, <hkO] and 10 degrees from <101]; both parallel to the compres
sion axis, were evident. The deformation mechanisms of gamma-TiAl were
discussed with the help of texture simulations (Taylor Viscoplastic M
odel) by considering both slip and twinning systems.
