Abstract
An algorithm was developed which allows determination of reference CD spectra of protein secondary-structure elements from the spectra of pr oteins with a known content of these elements. It accounts for the con tribution of aromatic amino acid side chains. These spectra call be us ed to determine the percentage of secondary-structure elements in vari ous proteins.
