We have experimentally and theoretically studied the phototriggered Xe
Cl laser, A complete set of time resolved experimental diagnostics has
been implemented on a small active volume laser, and the measurements
compared with a OD-model predictions. This model includes a detailed
kinetic of the XeCl molecule, and the effect of the gas temperature gr
owth during the development of the discharge. The Boltzmann equation i
s solved using a two-term expansion method which has been shown to be
accurate with short CPU-time. A coherent set of electron-HCl collision
cross sections has been also established and used in the calculation.
The applicability limits of such a OD-model have been precisely check
ed, and the performances of larger active volume lasers have been pred
icted.
