Abstract
We examine seven issues that are raised by the commentators: the relat ionship between memory and reasoning; constructivism; the nature of gi st memories; rationality, consciousness, and transfer across tasks; ba sic and strategic processes in memory development; global versus local theories of development; and implications of fuzzy-trace theory for t he study of individual differences.
