H. Horiuchi et al., EFFECTS OF N, C AND B ADDITIONS ON THE SM2FE17 CRYSTAL-STRUCTURE AND MAGNETIC-PROPERTIES, Journal of alloys and compounds, 222, 1995, pp. 131-135
The effects of N, C and B additions on the crystal structure of Sm2Fe1
7 were investigated using X-ray diffraction. Also, the changes in the
saturation magnetization, Curie temperature and magnetic anisotropy of
Sm2Fe17Nx, Sm2Fe17Cx, and Sm2Fe17Bx were measured as functions of the
concentrations of N, C or B interstitial atom. The basic Sm2Fe17 latt
ice structure was found to be decomposed by the excess solutions of C
at x>1.5 for Sm2Fe17Cx, and by those of B at x>0.2 for Sm2Fe17Bx. The
measurements of the magnetic anisotropies of these interstitial compou
nds yielded concentration regions where the anisotropy field changes f
rom the basal plane to the c axis at x>0.4-0.8 for Sm2Fe17Nx at x>0.3-
0.4 for Sm2Fe17Cx and at x>0.01-0.03 for Sm2Fe17Bx.
