This paper presents a new method, termed modal perturbation combined m
ode superposition and matrix perturbation, of nonlinear response analy
sis for large deflection forced vibration of beams subjected to period
ic laoding. Longitudinal displacement and inertia are both considered
in the formulation. As an application of the method, a numerical examp
le is given. The results show that the modal perturbation proves to be
effective in this class of problem.
