We report a case of lymphomatoid papulosis in a 36-year-old man who pr
esented recurrent necrotic skin nodules that regressed spontaneously l
eaving scars. The condition had persisted since 1988. These nodules we
re always solitary and located on the extremities. Histological examin
ation revealed a perivascular and interstitial, superficial and deep i
nfiltrate with numerous atypical lymphocytes (>40%) characterized by c
erebriform mononuclear cells and large atypical cells stained by MTI,
UCHL1 and Ber-H2 (anti-CD30). No associated disease was found. The pat
ient has been free of lesions for more than a year without treatment.
A nosological and physiopathological hypothesis of lymphomatoid papulo
sis is discussed.
