Abstract
We have compared the Doppler against the thermodilution technique far measurement of cardiac output in six patients during aortic surgery. T he correlation coefficient between the two methods was between 0.76 an d 0.84 during the different periods of the operation. Using the integr al nomogram instead of direct calibration, the Doppler system underest imated cardiac output in atherosclerotic patients. However, the Dopple r consent. Patients were excluded if they had known method did registe r accurately significant changes cardiac valve defects or any history of oesophageal in cardiac output.
