Abstract
Myocardial hibernation is a potentially reversible cause of resting le
ft ventricular dysfunction in some patients with coronary artery disea
se. Successful revascularisation in these patients can lead to improve
d ventricular function and hence improved prognosis. This review discu
sses the pathophysiology of myocardial hibernation and the methods tha
t are currently available to detect it.
