A 50-yr-old man was evaluated using standard stress/rest Tc-99m-methox
yisobutylisonitrile (MIBI) perfusion imaging, rest thallium infusion i
maging and rest (TC)-T-99m-MIBI infusion imaging prior to revasculariz
ation. Resting (TC)-T-99m-MIBI infusion imaging demonstrated hibernati
ng myocardium which was not detected with standard stress/rest Tc-99m-
MIBI imaging, The implication from this observation is that resting Tc
-99m-MIBI infusion scintigraphy can provide useful information when ev
aluating patients for the presence of hibernating myocardium, A prospe
ctive comparison of resting Tc-99m-MIBI infusion scintigraphy with oth
er noninvasive techniques used to identify viable myocardium may be wa
rranted.
