The infrared spectrum of acetone oxime vinyl ether (AOVE) has been stu
died for the gaseous, Liquid and solid phases as well as in an inert m
atrix at low temperatures. HF-SCF calculations have been carried out o
n AOVE and they predict the presence of one dominant rotamer with a he
avy atom planar (trans) structure. The infrared spectrum is consistent
with this conclusion, and assignments are made to many of the normal
modes. Specific assignments have also been made for all the observed H
-1 and C-13 NMR spectral lines.
