Abstract
Measurements. on CATV DFB strained QW lasers. of first-order. second-o rder optical modulation depth (OMD) and. for the first time, of DC com ponent decrease with modulation Delta(DC), are fitted within a nonline ar model giving a precise determination of gain compression factor eps ilon. This direct determination method at intermediate modulation Freq uencies is simpler and gives higher precision of epsilon than existing measurement methods such as relaxation resonance peak characteristics or emission wavelength shift.
