Abstract
The performance of a flashlamp-pumped fibre-bundle laser passively Q-s witched by a Cr4+:YAG crystal is reported. Simultaneous passive Q-swit ching of 250 highly Nd-doped multimode phosphate glass Fibres delivers pulses with 35 ns duration at a rate of 20 kHz. The generated Q-switc h pulses are strongly modulated by a train of pulses < 500 ps with hig h peak powers exceeding 1 mW.
