Ia. Bespalko et al., CHANGES OF TISSUE-PLASMINOGEN ACTIVATOR C ONTENT AND ITS ACTIVITY IN PATIENTS WITH ISCHEMIC-HEART-DISEASE, Kardiologia, 35(3), 1995, pp. 9-11
Plasminogen activator antigen (PAA) and its activity were determined i
n 138 patients with ischemic heart disease and in 61 healthy controls.
With increasing age tissue PAA level increased while its activity dec
lined. This can be explained by the occurrence of a significant part o
f the enzyme in the form of an inactive complex with its inhibitor. In
comparison with control group, tissue PAA and its activity were eleva
ted during the first day of acute myocardial infarction and in unstabl
e angina. Ratio of tissue PAA level to plasminogen activator activity
in these patients did not differ from that in a control group of the s
ame age.
