G. Betta et al., AN OPTICAL FIBER-BASED TECHNIQUE FOR CONTINUOUS-LEVEL SENSING, IEEE transactions on instrumentation and measurement, 44(3), 1995, pp. 686-689
An optical fiber-based technique for liquid-level measurement is propo
sed, It is based on the power attenuation which occurs in an optical f
iber, immersed in a liquid, when the liquid level varies. The theoreti
cal analysis allowed a low-cost sensor prototype to be set up. The exp
erimental results highlight the prototype capability of measuring liqu
id levels with acceptable sensitivity and repeatability.
