Abstract
The crystal structure of priderite-type barium vanadium oxide, BaxV8O1 6 (x = 1.09(1)), was determined. Ba1.09V8O16: M(r) = 813.209, tetragon al, I4/m, a = 9.9805(2) Angstrom, c = 2.8755(1) Angstrom, V = 286.43(1 ) Angstrom(3), Z = 1, D-x = 4.714 Mg m(-3), mu = 9.811 mm(-1) F(000)= 373.04, T = 295 K, lambda(MoK alpha = 0.71073 Angstrom, final R = 0.01 6 for 580 unique observed reflections. BaxV8O16 showed no detectable S olid-solution range. (C) 1995 Academic Press, Inc.
