Abstract
Two epidemiological models in a variable-size population are considere d. Both have a dose-dependent latent period that depends on the propor tion of infectious individuals in the population. In the SEIS model, t he proportion of infectious individuals tends to either zero or a stab le endemic value. In the SEIRS model, far diseases that confer tempora ry immunity, periodicity can arise by a Hopf bifurcation.
