Abstract
This work deals with the uncertainties invoked in modeling the directi onality of waves in the calculation of wave-induced toad effects. In t he short term, modeling of the spreading function defining the wave sh ort-crestedness is addressed, including the dependence of these functi ons on the significant wave height. In the tong-term formulations, the directionality of the wave climate data and its effect on the wave-in duced loads are discussed. The effect of accounting for directionality in the long-term formulations is quantified by a modeling factor obta ined with reference to calculations that do not include wave direction ality.
