New technique of measurement of electrical pain threshold (electroanag
esimetry) by means of a modified concentric supracutaneous electrode w
as suggested. An original protocol allowing to conduct measurements wi
thin individually adjusted range of electric current was used. Tactile
and pain sensibility thresholds were determined in 40 male patients w
ith stable effort class II-III angina. Results of measurements were hi
ghly reproduceable. Mean coefficients of variation of measurements per
formed on different days were 7.5+0.7% and 5.0+0.7% for tactile and pa
in thresholds, respectively. Correlation coefficients between results
of individual measurements; were 0,98-0,99 (p<0.001) and 0.93-0.94 (p<
0.001) for tactile and pain thresholds, respectively. The method was w
ell tolerated by patients and could be recommended for evaluation of c
utaneous tactile end pain sensitivity in clinical conditions.
