Abstract
Three monoprotic tridentate ligands were synthesized by the condensati on of 2-furoyl chloride with anthranilic acid, 2-furoyl chloride with beta-alanine and 2-acetyl pyridine with orthanilic acid. Metal chelate s of these ligands with Cu (II), Mn(II), Co(II). Ni(II) and Cu (II) we re synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, molecular mass , conductance, potentiometric, magnetic and spectral techniques. Some spectroscopic parameters were also evaluated. Octahedral geometry has been assigned to these chelates.
