The pathways of dissociation of excited molecular ions to fragment ion
s C7H7O+, C6H5O+, C6H6+, and C5H5+ were determined for the stepwise ph
otoionization of anisole molecules by laser radiation at 275-300 nm. T
he quantum yield of formation of fragment ions depends exponentially o
n the difference between the absorbed energy of three photons and the
appearance potential of the ions. It was shown that the cross section
of photoionization of excited molecules does not depend on the wavelen
gth, and the total cross section of photodissociation of molecular ion
s increases with the energy of UV photons. The appearance potentials f
or the fragment ions of anisole were determined by means of one-photon
ionization with vacuum UV radiation.
