The effect of shock-wave compression on high-T-c 124 ceramics Y0.925Ca
0.1Ba1.975Cu4O8 was studied. On the basis of X-ray diffraction analysi
s, magnetization measurements, and determination of oxygen content, it
was concluded that the 124 phase sustains shock compression but its s
tructure, possessing a virtually unchanged oxygen index, undergoes som
e changes that deteriorate the superconducting properties.
