O-17, {H-1}P-31 and Cl-35 NMR are used to investigate the mechanism of
the reaction of PdCl2 with tppts [tppts = P(C6H4-m-SO3Na)(3)] in O-17
enriched water to give the novel complex [PdCl(tppts)3](+) 1, which i
s reduced quantitatively to Pd(tppts)(3) 2 with tppts (8 d, 25 degrees
C); with CO (2 bar) reduction to 2 is quantitative in 5 min at 25 deg
rees C.
