The miscibility of the blend system consisting of ethylene-propylene r
ubber and chlorosulphonated polyethylene rubber has been investigated
using three well-established thermal analysis methods. Differential sc
anning calorimetric study has revealed that the system is immiscible a
s the two rubbers maintain their separate entities in all the blends.
Similar results have been obtained from dynamic mechanical thermal ana
lysis. Dielectric thermal analysis, however, appears not to be an appr
opriate method for the present system due to the non-polar nature of t
he ethylene-propylene rubber component.
