Abstract
Ten lanthanide complexes (Ln=La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Eu and Dy) with t he title ligands have been synthesised and characterised. The structur e of these complexes are assigned on the basis of IR spectra, magnetic and thermal analysis data. The IR spectra indicate that o-vanillin pa raanisidine (oVPA) is a bidentate ligand coordinating through azomethi ne N and phenolic 0 whereas o-vanillin salicyloylhydrazone (oVSH) is t ridentate possessing ketonic 0 as an additional donor site, Involvemen t of anions (Cl-, Ac-) in coordination is explored, Electronic spectra indicate weak covalent nature or metal ligand bond and various parame ters beta, b1/2, eta and S have been evaluated.
