Abstract
Coumarin 314, ethyl 2,3,6,7-tetrahydro-11-oxo-1H,5H, 1]benzopyrano[6,7 ,8-iJ]quinolizine-10-carboxylate, C18H19NO4, crystallizes in a monocli nic crystal system. One of the piperidine rings is in a sofa conformat ion while the other adopts a conformation between a half chair and a s ofa. The coumarin moiety is planar; the molecules are stacked in layer s parallel to (20 $$($) over bar 2). The crystal packing is governed b y van der Waals forces.
