Abstract
Condensation of N-p-chlorophenyl-C-ethoxycarbonyl-nitrilimine with 3H- 2-methyl-4-phenyl[1,5]benzodiazepine leads to the title compound ethyl ]triazolo[4,3-a][1,5]benzodiazepine-1-carboxylate. It has been establ ished that 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition occurs on the N1 = C2 double bond of the benzodiazepine. The oxadiazoline ring is practically planar wh ile the diazepine ring adopts a boat conformation. The ethyl chain in the ethoxy group adopts an unusual conformation [torsional angle 118.7 (8)degrees] induced by short contacts in the packing of the hypothetic al extended conformation.
