Abstract
The title compound, C38H42N4O6Si, is a key intermediate in the prepara tion of inhibitors for bovine beta-1,4-galactosyl transferase. The con figuration of the sugar was as expected. Libration of the tert-butyldi phenylsilyl group about an axis normal to the glucose ring is not coup led to the glucose. Intermolecular hydrogen bonding at the acetamido g roup leads to a sixfold screw axis.
