An algorithm is presented to perform deconvolution of ICP emission spe
ctra, utilizing the combined approach of Kalman filtering and derivati
ve spectroscopy. In this work only computer simulated spectra have bee
n studied. We have tried to incorporate all the effects in this simula
tion, which may contribute to real spectra. Based on the results it ca
n be assumed that with this approach precise and accurate evaluation c
an be done with long term stability comparable to conventional evaluat
ion methods (ABC) in case of simple spectra. With more complicated spe
ctra this approach seems to be superior to several one-component evalu
ation methods.
