Op. Thakur et al., EFFECT OF K2O ADDITION ON CRYSTALLIZATION AND MICROSTRUCTURAL BEHAVIOR OF THE STRONTIUM TITANATE-BOROSILICATE GLASS-CERAMIC SYSTEM, Materials letters, 23(4-6), 1995, pp. 253-260
The crystallization and microstructural behaviour of glass ceramics in
the system (SrO . TiO2)-(SiO2 . B2O3) with varying wt% of K2O have be
en investigated. The glass samples were crystallized based on DTA stud
ies. Crystalline phases were identified by X-ray diffraction. The addi
tion of K2O in the parent glass composition plays an important role in
the precipitation of different crystalline phases in glassy matrix an
d controls the microstructure of the resulting glass ceramic. In our s
tudies it has been observed that careful selection of the K2O content
and heat-treatment conditions results in crystallization of strontium
titanate as the major phase.
