As the AIDS epidemic continues to grow, it becomes increasingly import
ant that physicians are aware of the gastrointestinal and abdominal di
seases specific to this group of patients. Most AIDS patients exhibit
gastrointestinal symptoms at some time during the course of their dise
ase. Clinical AIDS is often determined by identifying an opportunistic
infection or neoplasm of the gastrointestinal tract. Radiology often
plays a key role in helping to determine the diagnosis as well as in d
irecting the management.
