GRAIN-SIZE AND SETTLING VELOCITY OF SUSPE NDED MATTER OF THE SEINE ESTUARY

Authors propose a mathematical approach to establish settling velociti es from grain size measurements obtained during in vitro settlement of Seine estuary water samples. The microfloc settling velocities are bo und to a power function of diameter D as omega(s) = K & D(n) to be com pared to Stoke's law. These settling velocity measurements are compare d to hydrodynamical events of the Seine estuary and to bibliographic d ata obtained with other in vitro and in situ processes.
