Abstract
A new procedure for edge detection in textured grey-level images is ou tlined, using the Jensen-Shannon divergence measure between the grey-l evel histograms of two adjacent regions defined by a sliding window. T he procedure is computationally simple and provides a basic tool for b oth a sharpening technique and an early texture segmentation.
