The relaxation of electric field-induced polar orientation in a side-c
hain-bearing liquid-crystalline polysiloxane was measured by means of
thermally stimulated depolarization currents. Different relaxation mec
hanisms were identified and characterized: the glass transition cooper
ative relaxation exhibits compensation behaviour. On the other hand, l
ower T-g and upper T-g discharges were observed and their molecular na
ture is discussed.
